This menu is where you can view your space battles, create custom battle, save a battle, and load old battles. Most of the time, you will watch your battles that occurred the last turn. The menu is broken up into three sections, battle detail information, list of battles, and the secondary command panel.
This panel lists the battle details. It is located in the same area as your message in the communication menu. The panel shows the empires present in the battle, the number of ships and type of ship, along with a damage report for each ship. The panel is an automatic scroll panel, so when you move your mouse to the bottom or the top, it will scroll so that all ships in the battle can be displayed.
This panel is located in the lower middle of the menu. It lists the battle, where it occurred and how many ships were involved in the battle. It also displays whether you were victorious, were defeated, of if the battle ended in a draw.
The secondary command panel allows you to create a custom battle, view a selected battle, load a previously saved battle and save a selected battle for later viewing. Saved battle can be sent to your friends for viewing. The can be viewed by selecting the battle from the load menu. To play a battle someone sent you, make sure to copy the battle into the battle directory.
You can create a custom battle to test out your new ship designs or your fleet tactics. Once you have selected create custom battles, you will be given a custom battle window. Here you will see two ship images. The style of ships in this menu also represents the race.
You can add any ship you have designed or any of the standard ships. Technology does not matter, as the battle will be based on the ship design. You can select the fleet tactics as well as the ship tactics. You can even save a custom battle. These battles will be simulated exactly the same as real battle, so you can hone your strategy. They also can be saved and loaded to be viewed later or sent to a friend.
When you are viewing a battle, you can pause it, speed it up, slow it down, or restart it. If you want to reset the playback speed to normal, select play. When you pause the playback and resume it, it will always start at the default speed.
You can move the focus of the battle by scrolling with the arrow keys or moving the mouse to the edge of the screen. You can also left click on the battle map window located on the lower left. You can select a ship to get its detailed data, however you cannot fighters.
